Transportation
Sandia Shuttle Express
Convenient shuttle services between Santa Fe and Albuquerque International Airport with 26 trips daily to fit your travel schedule. We highly recommend calling 1-888-775-5696 in advance of your departure date and making a reservation for the shuttle.
Santa Fe Trails Transit
The Santa Fe Trails Transit System (SFT) can take you to and from your hotel and the workshop location. Maps, timetables and fare lists are available on the Santa Fe Trails Transit System web site. There is frequent service (Route 2) along Cerrillos Road where most of the hotels are located to the Santa Fe Transit Center, located near the intersection of Cerrillos Road and Rodeo and Airport Roads. You can then take the bus on Route 21 that leaves the Santa Fe Transit Center to the Santa Fe Community College.
You can also explore Santa Fe with Santa Fe Trails Transit. Just catch the bus at any of the bus stops along Cerrillos Road. There is service every 15 minutes, so you're sure to be in the midst of Santa Fe's famous attractions in no time – including special events on the Plaza! From the downtown Transit Center, you can connect to Route "M" that takes you within a short walk of Canyon Road and directly to Museum Hill – the location of four distinct and diverse museums.
Traveling with Art Materials
Airlines do not allow volatile substances on airplanes, either in checked baggage or in carry on luggage. Please plan to purchase any solvents, if needed in your workshop, from Natural Pigments prior the workshop in Santa Fe.
Some airlines will not allow oil paint on flights. Please check with your carrier as to their policy and ask for written permission to check your art materials on the aircraft in the event the baggage handler on the day of your flight does not allow your bags on board with art materials.
Ordering Materials and Shipping
You may require some supplies that are not provided at the workshop. (Check the workshop detail page for information about what will be materials will be needed and what will be supplied.) We recommend that you order the supplies at least two weeks in advance of the workshop starting date to be delivered to the workshop location. You may order materials from Natural Pigments in advance of your arrival in Santa Fe and we will ship them to the workshop location.
If you ship your own materials in advance to the workshop, your name, workshop title, instructor's name and the workshop dates must appear prominently on the outside of the package. We will do everything to assure that your supplies are stored safely upon arrival, however we cannot guarantee against lost or damaged deliveries and strongly recommend that you purchase insurance when shipping your own materials.
You may also purchase art supplies while in Santa Fe from Artisan Santa Fe Art Supplies, 2601 Cerrillos Rd., Santa Fe, Phone: 505-954-4179.
Health and Safety
Natural Pigments values the health of our students and is aware that some students have chemical sensitivities. In our workshops we recommend using Rublesol Odorless Mineral Spirits in place of turpentine or mineral spirits to reduce excess volatile substances in the air. We will provide Rublesol for students use because we wish to maintain a healthy studio environment and reduce exposure to volatile substances. Some painting mediums will also be made available at the workshop for students use.
