Thread: Camera Obscura and Camera Lucida

    To continue (internet wiggles today);
    That's where I always seem to cross lines with Bart.
    I just can't glorify most of those artists who pander to and for the critics that lead the masses over the cliff to Art Basel. They are soul stealers. They Dictate and direct authenticity to the merely novel, new product/ Soup cans...soup lines for the rest.

    Art for this group is supported and lainced only when it has investment grade potential. They are the inside brokers. The products are repeated into obsessive fetishes.

    It happens across culture. America, esp. in Sante Fe, did it to Naive art. Tribal art was lost to individual western statements. It's an old concept, "Kill the Indian, save the man."

    So back to Hockney's supporters... I'll just say that when Annie Liebovitz choose to publish her photos of her dearest dead decomposing Susan Sontag she was only doing that shameful narcissistic self promotion thing without any self control. Her photos were not objectionable, but her promotion was. That's the dark circle...maybe the the black
    cube. "Head up to Union Square, never know who ya gonna meet there. I'm just lookin for my man, 20 dollar bill in my hand."

    Probably a good idea if we move away from an examination of each other and into some topics that will serve to increase the knowledge base. It appears that our optics thread has run it's course.

    Kenneth, that's not good enough for me. I like talking about art here but I've got other stuff going on in my life.

    It is actually George's call. Please report any posts which you find to be out of line by using the report whistle icon. I have asked to no longer make decisions about editing and deleting posts since my attempts at such were poorly received. I felt this was more efficiently accomplished by the administrator whose site is represented here.

    I certainly don't wish for anyone to receive personal comments which one feels are injurious and I know that George does not either. I would encourage all participants to do the same-report posts they feel violate the rules of the forum.

    Thank you.
