Lala,
I'm sorry, I had no idea of your requirements. However, if I come across a more suitable resource, I will notify you and others who might be interested.

Lala, After making several passes on the feather for the split, tap the end of the feather with the piece of wood (lightly) to cause the split to crack open. This has to be done very delicately or it will crack past the hole drilled in the feather. I drill the hole as a stopping point for the split with a 1/16th inch drill bit. As for purchasing feathers, you might try a local slaughter house/ butcher shop, where farmers and people raising animals take them to be butchered. If none are around you, try an archer shop that makes arrows, they usually have full feathers for sail for making archer feathers for arrows.
Without a brush in my hand, pigments to grind and an empty canvas - I feel naked and unsatisfied!
