Safety and Toxicology
PrimaTone Burnt Sienna contains Pigment Red 102, a natural calcined iron oxide recognized for its excellent stability and low toxicity. It presents no known chronic health risks under standard studio conditions and does not require special hazard labeling in compliance with ASTM D4236.
The oil-modified alkyd binder includes a small amount of hydrotreated petroleum distillate, a high-flash, low-odor aliphatic hydrocarbon used to improve handling. At the concentration used, it does not trigger chronic hazard labeling for art materials intended for adult use.
As with all oil-based paints, observe standard precautions: avoid ingestion, do not sand dry paint films, ventilate your workspace, and wear gloves if skin sensitivity is a concern.
All components—pigment, binder, and additives—are clearly listed on the product label, in keeping with Natural Pigments’ commitment to ingredient transparency. Store in a cool, dry place and keep out of reach of children.
