About the Artist

Classical training, contemporary sensitivity

Catherine Bobkoski is known for poetic and nuanced depictions of flowers, combining careful craftsmanship with a deep responsiveness to light, atmosphere, and color. Her work has appeared in International Artist Magazine and in exhibitions across the United States, including the Oil Painters of America 2025 Western Regional Exhibition, where she received a silver medal.

Her artistic foundation was shaped through study at The Watts Atelier in California, followed by Grand Central Academy and New York University in New York City. Historical painting methods and the work of the Old Masters continue to inform her studio practice, especially their commitment to direct observation, structure, and quiet poetry in ordinary subjects.

As an educator, Catherine teaches workshops internationally and online, helping students strengthen visual literacy, confidence, and personal expression through observational drawing and painting.

“Technical mastery and personal expression are not opposites; they are partners.” — Catherine Bobkoski
Teaching Approach

Fundamentals that lead to expressive painting

Catherine’s teaching is grounded in observational drawing and oil painting, merging classical discipline with a modern sensibility. Through demonstration, critique, and guided exercises, she helps students understand gesture, structure, value design, color harmony, and surface handling.

Her instruction is especially suited to painters who want greater clarity in form, stronger color decisions, and a more personal relationship to floral and still life subjects.
