Sterling Silverpoint
Sterling Silverpoint is shaped on one or both ends. The 50 mm (2 in) length lasts through hundreds of drawings.
Sterling Silverpoint is made from Sterling silver wire. Available in two widths, the wide point (2 mm diameter) is shaped on both ends, a cone on one end and a bevel on the other end. The thin point (0.9 mm) is shaped to a cone only on one end. All points measure 5 cm (2 inches) in length.
Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness of 925.
Sterling Silverpoints are available in two hardnesses: dead soft and half hard. Dead soft, which refers to the hardness of point, is usually used to describe silver or sterling silver wire. Dead-soft wire has not been hardened at all—a hardness of 0, making it the most malleable. Half-hard is wire manufactured with a hardness of 2, and fully hardened wire is wire with a hardness of 4. Half-hard wire is slightly stiffer than dead-soft wire.
All Aurum metal points fit in the Aurum Silverpoint Dual Stylus.
