Rublev Colours ARTIST OILS
One reason is we use natural and historical pigments like those used by the old masters. Another is we make them as they did before modern oil colors—without additives. Rublev Colours® Artists Oils are formulated to maintain each oil pigment's unique characteristics. What you find in each tube is unique due to the pigment inside, giving you new choices of texture, opacity, consistency, tone, and hue. With Rublev Colours, you experience the transparency of yellow ocher, the pale coolness of green earth, and the crystalline glitter of blue lazurite.
Rublev Colours PAINTING MEDIUMS
Painting amendments change the handling properties of paint, such as flow out and leveling; increase or decrease tackiness and drag; hasten or retard drying time; increase or decrease gloss; increase transparency or other characteristics. Rublev Colours® Oil Painting Mediums are designed to alter the consistency of oil paint in novel ways, different from the varnishes that were in common use since the 19th century and alkyd mediums today.
Rublev Colours WATERCOLORS
Rublev Colours® Watercolors are made with the same pigments used by watercolor masters of the 17th to 19th centuries. The colors are genuine single pigment paints available individually in tubes and cakes. We make Rublev Colours Watercolors in small batches using gum arabic and sugar syrup, which were the basic ingredients in watercolors of past centuries. There are no other additives to alter the characteristics of each color. Rublev Colours Watercolors do not contain fillers to extend colors, dispersants to disperse and granulate pigments, and brighteners to intensify colors. Rather, each color is crafted to develop its unique character, so they behave much the same as the colors of past masters.
CERACOLORS Waterborne Wax Paint
Ceracolors® is water-soluble wax-based paint for artists providing a wide range of painting techniques from thick impastos to watercolor-like washes. They are fast-drying colors suitable for all supports used for encaustic painting, yet they do not require any special tools or heated instruments. Use any brush suitable for water-based paint. Once dry, Ceracolors can be used in the encaustic technique, allowing further sculpting and manipulation of the paint. The ingredients in Ceracolors are found in food and cosmetics, so they are not considered to be toxic.
Rublev Colours PIGMENTS
Natural Pigments specially make Rublev Colours® natural mineral, organic, and historical powder pigments for artists. They are the same pigments used by ancient, medieval, and Renaissance painters. Each pigment can be used for different painting techniques. Whether you are a novice or an experienced painter, you’ll find Rublev Colours pigments well suited for use in aqueous mediums, such as egg and casein tempera, gum arabic (watercolor), hide glue (distemper), and acrylic dispersions. They perform equally well in oil and alkyd paint. Most are suitable for fresco and other painting techniques, such as encaustic.
