Kölner Permacoll Patina - For Antiquing and Aged Patina on Gilding
Kölner Permacoll Patina is a water-based solution that gives gold, silver, or other metal leaf an aged patina or antique appearance. Available in four colors: Brown-Red, Brown-Black, Black, and Copper-Green.
Kölner Permacoll Patina is applied with a brush or a soft cloth, and the excess is removed. Once the solution is dry, the leaf will appear aged. Additional coats can be applied to highlight areas with the patina appearance of further aging.
Kölner Permacoll Patina also acts as a sealer, protecting low-karat gold leaf, silver, copper, and imitation gold and silver leaf from oxidation. No additional sealer or varnish is required.
Surface Preparation
After gilding but before Kölner Permacoll Patina is applied, the gilded surface must be thoroughly cleaned of dust, grease, and contaminants.
Application of Kölner Permacoll Patina
Synthetic fiber brushes work best for applying Kölner Permacoll Patina. A lint-free cloth can also be used to wipe it on. After it has been applied, the excess is wiped away with a soft cloth. Once dried, it will give the appearance of being aged. Additional coats can be applied to areas on the project to give the appearance of additional aging.
Cleanup
Clean up brushes and tools with warm soap and water. Do not return unused solutions to their container. Discard in a container to be brought to household waste management.
